Earlier this week, a good friend of mine was talking about how great it is when something wonderful happens unexpectedly. It reminded me of one of my all-time favorite words, serendipity.
According to Wikipedia: “Serendipity is when someone finds something that they weren’t expecting to find. The word has been voted as one of the ten English words that were hardest to translate in June 2004 by a British translation company. However, due to its sociological use, the word has been exported into many other languages. In the simplest of words, it means a ‘happy accident’.”
Well, I recently had one of these pleasant, unexpected events during a fitness photo shoot on Miami’s South Beach. In the middle of my photo shoot, the guys from LHGFX Photography and I stumbled upon Good Morning America’s Chief Health and Medical Editor, Dr. Richard Besser, and a crew of cameras. Dr. Besser was asking beachgoers about some important beach health and safety tips and I was one of the lucky few he stopped to interview.
We discussed all sorts of beach topics from choosing the best sunscreen, to staying hydrated, to exercising safely in the hot sun. Check it out at the 2:49 mark:
